8RDA+ Questions

Hello all, I have an Epox 8RDA+ with a XP 1700 Tbred A core along with some HyperX PC2700. I was hoping to get 2gigs out of it but seem to hit a wall at 1800Mhz. Right now I am running at 10x180 with the vcore at 1.8 and the ram voltage one step below the max on this board (forget the exact number). CPU has an Alpha 8045 with a big ass Delta on it so I have fairly good cooling. My question is how high can I safely run the vcore and ram voltage? Keep in mind default vcore on this CPU is 1.5. Any other suggestions are welcome. TIA

dads, have read more than once that unlike the older athlons, the Tbreds don't do a lot better when you push max Vcore voltage at them. Sounds like you just got one that doesn't want to go faster :(

Starting to think you are right there Sethpa I just tried 10.5x180 with the vcore up to 1.9 and it would not post. Really starting to think 1800Mhz is all this chip has in it.

sounds like you have hit the wall with that chip, have you tryed a 12x multi with a lower fsb?

Yeah I have tried it in many diff configs of multiplier and fsb settings. No matter wall it seems to max out at 1800Mhz and the system feels snappier with the lower multiplier and the higher FSB but does not seem to like above 180 on the FSB with the fast ram timings.

I have a 1700 a that dosen't do much of anything really - i just have it a 1.6

my good 2100+ does 2.333 and is absolutely stable

i picked up another 2100= from newegg for 75, not the best stepping, but `1700s with that stepping are all pulling 2.1 to 2.2 so i'll be happy with 2.2

might just want to sell that chip to somone who doesn't care about the oc and just get a decent oc 2100

i have also read that the barton xp 2500 is a nice overclocker

The Tbred A's never were good overclockers... :(
