Ok well i have my 2100+ cpu at 2400+ speeds

2100+ with sk-7 and ys tek adjustable + 5 case fans. Temps at 2400+ speeds are 33-34 under load

How should i oc this thing? Dont want to blow it out but do want to keep it at its new speed for the rest of the time i use the comp. I dont want to oc and then underdo my oc. I will be using this thing for games and all.

Anyone tell me steps to ocing this thing well. Whats the vdimm and vcore? I know what they are but will i need to increase them from default? Will this hurt my cpu?

UPDATE: Comp at 13x166 default vcore and I ran prime for 12hours. NO errors. The temps got to 42c but thats cause my a/c in my apt is broke and its 77F in there. Anyway do you think i have more room for improvement

Ah, another fellow 2100+ overclocker!!

I was lucky enough to land a 2100+ 0248 stepping for $95 shipped back towards the end of April.

I currently have my 2100+ sitting at 205x11.5 (2362 MHz) using 1.725v. I'm going to run benchmarks all night tonight to see how stable it is.

To start with, you'll want to lower the multiplyer to find your FSB. You have 3000 HyperX ram? I think that's what, around 280 MHz? Well, either way, find the max FSB for that. My guess is that any high performance ram these days will easily handle 2.8v, so boost the vdimm up once you start hitting walls on FSB. I know my Corsair PC3200LLPT is made for 2.8v, but I don't know about your HyperX. You may want to look into that. if you want to play it safe, 2.7v should give you a nice boost in performance, and not harm the ram, too much.

once you reach your max fsb, its just a matter of finding your sweet spot for your multiplyer. For some reason, my board won't boot at 10 or 10.5 multiplyers if I'm over 180 FSB. I'd think you be able to reach at least somewhere around 2.2 GHz. So, just keep adding voltage to the processor until its stable (For example: I got my 205*11.5 into windows at 1.7v, but it wouldn't even finish the first demo in 3dmark01. Adding .25v added the stability I needed.)

It's just a matter of experimenting. Also, make sure you have enough cooling. I got all my fans on hi right now, I hope I can quiet this thing down without it making too much heat (I think load is around 43-45*C. you have that SK7, it should be ok.

Increasing the vcore shouldn't hurt your CPU unless its running really hot. Sure, it'll shorten its life expectancy, but in 10 years, it'll be obsolete. It shouldn't be something to worry about. I think anything between 1.6-1.7v is safe for Athlons. But, I can't support my opinion, so don't go by it.

Radeon 9700 pro, eh? Be prepared for some amazing 3dmark scores. I got 10651 with my Radeon 8500 64mb.

Yea. Ive had this sytem for 1 month and its awsome!!! I got the 9700np sapphire that ATI put out that were really underclocked 9700 pros. For $230 you cant beat that. I mean it hadthe 2.86 samsung chips and with a quick bios flash, its back to the pro speeds and more

mine is stable and happy at 13.5 x 172 @ 1.75 - it's an o2 48 or 50 dont remember

burned it in at 1.85 for abour 2 weeks, then 1.8 now 1.75

2336 seems to be the stable peak on this thing
