Somebody was talking good about a heatsink/fan for his Duron in this one newsgroup. It's by a company called Molex. Go to "Thermal/Acoustic" at the bottom and check it out.

Anybody ever hear of these or know if they are any good? I don't even have a socket system or anything, but I figured I'd spread the news. Maybe it's a cheap imitation to a GORB, maybe it's better, maybe its worse? Who knows?! If somebody on this baord has the time and money, maybe they can experiement and give us the results :D

Anyway, here's what he had to say:

Just for info :

I have a duron 700@850 1.75 Vcore. My old OEM fan was a really big one and a really noisy Fan. It done a good job, but i couldn't support that my cpu seems to fly regarless of the plane sound of this Fan.

So i decide to buy a Noiseless Fan. I find a MOLEX (www.molex.com -thermal accoustic section for info (They
don't sale anything, it's not an advertise here)). This is the best fan i never saw. My system temp is ~ 42 - 45 ° after 24H of seti@home (depending on the room temp). This results are better that with my old fan. And the better is that it's really noiseless. The fist time i try it, i had to open my case again to be sure that it work :-).
This fan is very strange, with a circular copper headskin and is really small. I never saw something else like that before.

Did someone know this brand or this Fan and what about it ? For myself, i like it .

they're silent, but not very good if you plan on oc'n anything :( slow fan and very little airflow.

Someone should make a better gorb. The concept is really good, but they aren't well designed otherwise. The fins are WAY too thick if you ask me.

trust me bitslap, these things are NOT the answer to a better orb! I have a pair of them here if you want to look at em... but be warned, they're horrible heatsinks, with even worse fans on em. Don't work to cool a flipchip or socket A either :( About all they're good for is old slow celerons, cyrix chips and socket 7 chips under 450mhz
