Thermalright is doing something special in my book. My last four heatsinks have been Thermalright, and the last two were the SP-97. I just love heatpipe technology. :D

I have A AMD athlon 1800+ and a 1.8ghz AMD Duron in my two systems.
Just as long as you cool them enough you will be able to over clock them and run them very nicely.

That's a lot of...

...older technology. Are you going to get those extra CPU's up and running before it's too late? By too late, I mean that you might not be able to find the necessary motherboard / bios / etc. to run them. :w hat

Could you be right?

I don't think so. Intel sucks, as does their entire marketing department. :argue

Nah, I'm gonna upgrade the C433 to the cheapest fast processor I can find that this board will run. I might step my 1.4G to an XP model to about 2.0GHz. Then the duron will be tossed in favor of the now spare 1.4G. Other than that, I'm too cheap to upgrade when all I do is email and play freecell anymore.

Have 6 boxes, and all of them are Intel. I did have one AMD, but I set that one up for my father-in-law.

Just ordered....

....another AMD Athlon XP 2500+ Barton for a system I'm building for a friend. This will take time to build, as I await the money - small chunks have started rolling in. Anyway, it should run at the 3200+ rating on the Soyo SY-KT600 Dragon Plus Ver1.0 motherboard. I picked up both of these at newegg, where the CPU was $75, and the motherboard was $40 (after $10 rebate). Hard to beat that! Now I need to wait a month and then get two 512 MB sticks of PC3200 memory and two 36GB WD Raptor 10KRPM SATA drives. That will amount to $450. When the money comes in for that, we'll be left with the high-end videocard, either the new Geforce 6800 (ultra) or the ATI 800 series. :p

Gee, only 2 years goes by...

...and somebody adds another comment. This topic might live for a decade.

Anyway, my current favorite CPU is the Athlon 64 X2 3800+, which is a dual core of course. Nothing beats an AMD CPU for value, power, and things of this nature. :D
