PENTIUM 4 2.4A GHZ will this work on my board??

Post by swinada »

I have a ECS P4S5MG/GL+ board chipset: SIS650GL+/962L
will this processor work on that board?
:) PENTIUM 4 2.4A GHZ 533MHZ FSB 1MB L2 CACHE

I know it will fit but I'm just not sure about all this North -southbridge prescott stuff.
Help is appreciated.

The board supports 533 FSB, so it should be fine. ;)

not all boards will support the prescott...

I learned that the hard way.

I just ordered a 3.0 prescott and now found out it won't work on my board

well I might be sitting in the same boat as you DoPey, I just ordered this chip and will see if it will work or not. Maybe it would be time to buy a new board anyway, something better.
Any reccomandations for a good inexpensive board supporting Prescott chip?
I was looking at this http://www.vibecomputers.com/index.cfm? ... vID=191344

see, I can't just go get a new board

the chip is for a shuttle system, so yeah, I guess I could get a new board, but, it would need to fit in the shuttle I have.....

well I guess I am out of luck. The Mod. just replied to this question on the VIbecomputers.com forum and he sais; although the 2.4A Prescott is 533mhz, it will not work on your MB, due to the extra demand that the Prescott requires for power.
so I'm in the market for a new MB since I ordered the chip allready.
