I have an AMD Athlon XP 2200+. I can overclock it to 13x-149fsb, I can't get it to go to 150 or above. My bios says my memory has to run at at least 333mhz which is does(pc2700). Can this chip just not go that fast or is there some setting Im missing?

BTW:
Motherboard-Asus a7v333
RAM-Hynix PC2700 256mb CL 2.5

It may not be able to hit those speeds at that multiplier.. You may want to try unlocking the multi.. GL

does it show your memory speed as 333 in POST? it may be your ram is synched with the cpu, a lot of times on different systems i have seen this as default setting. you should be able to go in bios and change the speed of the ram to 333(166) , which should open more options for the cpu/fsb.

I don't think it shows the speed at all, but I'll check.

Alright, I used a program that told me the frequency and the fsb. The frequency was ~179mhz and the FSB was ~146mhz+33mhz do these numbers sound right for pc2700 or what is normal for this speed

pc2700 runs "optimal" at 166, doubling to 333, the cpu is built to run at 133 fsb.

normally, your fsb would likely be 133 + 33 and ram would be 166 so you are slightly overclocked.

bios is adding the 33mhz to sync the chip with the ram. i have a board that does this as well. i have not really messed with the bios in it yet, but i believe if you can change the setting(it differs, but is something like) fsb/dram or cpu/dram parameters that is default setting of "optimal" to something else like "turbo" or "expert" then you have more options to specify each speed individually.

however, like ego said, if your multi is locked at 13 then you are gonna be limited on what you can do with the chip

I am one of the lucky ones with an "unlocked" chip although the lowest is 13 I can go higher (not low mult. unlocked)
