Front Panel Audio Problem ASUS A7v8x-x Motherboard

Post by WeekendWarrior »

Hey guys how you all doing? I am trying to set up the front panel audio jacks for my son to use his headset.
I have the asus a7v8x-x motherboard and a generic case.
I know how to wire it I think but I cant seem to get the headphones to work as well as my 5.1 sound system.
I am using the on board soundcard its the soundmax software with it.
I can listen to 5.1 sound ok until I try to use the front audio jacks...when I remove the jumper to connect the right and left leads it disables the front speakers in my 5.1 format...
any ideas?
I can use a splitter I guess from the rear out lines but I would rather get the front jacks working...
thanks for any ideas...
I have a sb live value sound card in another computer but I cant remember if its even 5.1 ...

Just a guess here, but I think that when you use the head phones, it's limited to stereo only, which means it will take the sound from the front speakers.

Thanks , yea I guess so but I thought I could switch back and forth through software but that isnt the case.
asus doesnt give me any info at first now they say its not possible to use both.
I can switch the microphone on through the front but not the headphones....just a pain to set up for my son who now plays medal of honor online with teamspeak....
I just want my 5.1 sound and my computer back from these teenagers!!! lol
good to hear from you Ex how ya been? its been a while...
