Should i ADD or dump the lot and get NEW??

Post by UK1nation »

as you can see by my signiture i have a

HP Pavilion 061 EG195AA-B1U d4179.se
intel P4 - 3,6GHZ 800fsb (says it can be over clocked but the bios wont allow)
4x 512MB DDRII 533MHZ ram (2 are factory original)
**Audigy 2ZS sound blaster (removed as im using the onboard rca digital jack)
**wireless lan card (removed as never needed it, i use fibre optic hard lines.. so i can achieve the speeds i pay for (100MB/10MB)
Geforce G70 256MB 7800gtx graphic card (personally i think its a load of s#@%..always probs transfering vid to my lcd hdtv in front room)
2x burners (1=lightscribe + other LG secure disc)

im fed up with waiting for things to happen... could i upgrade RAM for better results...or is there a MOBO that would accept 2 of my CPU's??
just åpondering over if it would cost me more to adapt or upgrade...when i could just start from scratch again....

Windows XP I assume? 2Gb of RAM isn't enough for Vista.

Well a lot depends on what you do with it. Are you a gamer?
That sounds like it's a good 6 years old so yeah it's a dinosaur. With a fresh WinXP install it would probably run greta for basic desktop use, but it's no power house. Especially considering HP always uses extremely conservative (and slow) RAM timing for stability.
