what cpu to buy ? AMD or INTEL

in the next 2-3 months im going to build me a new rig.
just not sure if should go AMD or Intel.
the Last time I was Talking to myself . I got into such a heated argument . that is why I swore I never talk to that guy again. you know what it worked now no buddy talking to me. :help

I still think that the I5 intel is best bang for the buck. not sure about all the motherboard/socket changes. I usually upgrade 1 gen back to save $$ -

Agreed. Intel i5. I'm not up on mobos. What I would recommend is going here:

Just use this as a guide to picking parts, not to order from them. They use standard parts you can buy on NewEgg or anywhere, and list model numbers. Use their configurator to put together the system you'd like, then go look up the prices for everything on NewEgg or your other favorite place.

The nice thing about using their configurator is that you'll know if a particular mobo goes with a particular CPU.

AMD seems to be doing well currently. And on top of that, these days you're more limited by your video card than your processor.
