ok I am Presently using one of those Sk-6 thermalright heatsinks. my question is:

where the Clip is in the heatsink there are Ni fins...ok big deal but Also there is a nice gap where lots of air is shoved out wit h out really touching the heatsink Fins. should I tape bot those sides off? would this help any? this a Bad idea?

Greg, I think the only answer to your tape idea is to try it and see if any improvement is had. Couldn't hurt much other than possibly blowing the tape loose or off.

edit: decided the foil was a terrible idea on my part.
