HD recovery service
HD recovery service
Any recommend one. Have a friend who has the click of death and of course has no other backup and is willing to pay the crazy rates, so if anybody can recommend a recovery service they have used I would appreciate it.

I had a client use these guys: http://www.dtidata.com/data_recovery.htm
They were recommended to me by a friend who does IT work.
Client's drive was unrecoverable (platters were gouged) so they didn't charge her except the cost of shipping the drive back (they offered to destroy the drive for free).

that's a local company to me...my company uses them and i also had a friend use them. unless it changed since i used them, they provided a free estimate and would tell you if they could do the recovery or not. if not, they would outsource to a larger lab for advanced procedures. they were "cheap" too...<$400 for my friend.
