Using mandrake 7.2 and 3com 3C509b connected to router which is connected to my cable modem.

I go into drake (config thingy, heh), click network settings, LAN, select the driver for the 3C509 (no b), for the ip I have tryed what windows usually automatically assigns it (192.168.0.3) and leaving it blank and clicking the box. I leave proxy and domain at the default.

I can run ifconfig and ifconfig eth0. It always says the ip is 127.0.0.1. I cannot ping another comp on the network.

Suggestions?
