Ok, here's the deal. When I open a song and click the "play" button, it won't start. I have to fast-forward a bit in the song to star to hear it. I've been to creative labs site and downloaded Live!Ware 3.0 (which I believe came with my SB Platinum CD anyway) and I updated the PlayCenter2 (which sucked by the way) and it didn't fix it.

I've tried re-installing it also from my CD but no fix. I'm currrently using Win98SE with this system. It's wierd, though. When using WinME, I don't have this problem.

Another wierd thing is that a friend of mine has a SB MP3+ and he's running Win98SE, but he doesn't have the problem. Anybody else have the problem or know of a fix? I really like the player.

I'm about to get another hard drive for RAID-0 so I'll be formatting soon. Should I just put WinME back on? I used to be running it but I found that Win98SE was a *bit* faster in some of my games. Should I give it another shot? List some reasons why or why not or what you think the problem could be!

It will probably work fine after the format. I use it in Win98SE & it works fine.

I hated the second version of the Playcenter & went back to the original.

JohnM - I would have thought that a formattnig would fix it, but it hasn't. I just got done with one not too long ago.

Darkheart - Better than MediaPlayer 7 :D

One more question, do I even need all the stupid little programs that the install CD puts on? I usually do a custom install anyway, but I just got to thinking. I'm going to be getting another hard drive here and setting up RAID which means I'll have to format. When I do and windows looks for drivers for the sound card, should I just point it to the CD instead of running the install program and putting on all the stuid little non-scense programs that I never use (the ones i use are WaveStudio, PlayCenter, and Recorder)

I mean, does it need all those other files to do what it does? (Like AudioHQ, Soundfont Showcase, Rhytmania, what the hell is that crap?)

Actually, I never install any of that crap. I install Liveware 3, but do a custom install & install nothing but the drivers & the surround mixer.

I have been using Jet-Audio extension instead of the Playcenter lately.

Also, I immediately disable the dos emulation in the device manager before rebooting to save the irq.

That's cool. When I get that other hard drive, that's what I'm gonna do. It's just wasted space with all those programs.

One thing, you say you disable SB 16 Emulation. I always was curious about this. I have never actually gotten it to work? You know, like when you play older games such as Warcraft II or Doom, you get midi sounding music. I always thought SB16 emulation would fix this. If it would, I would definitly keep it enabled, but I haven't gotten it to "fix" this "problem"

DO you know what I'm talking about? A while back I thought about sticking an old SB 16 just for games like those, but I saw that the Live! had SB16 emulation so I forgot about it.

I never have either, but I had gotten rid of the old dos games long before I got the sb live.

You don't have to disable it of course, but I have had it cause conflicts before so I just do it automatically.

I have two firewire cards in my system & they are sensitive about any kind of conflict.
