Did you read the article about Whistler on the PCA home page? Basically Microsoft is trying to make it only possible to install it on one machine. I can understand MS having a problem with piracy but if I have more than one machine I don't feel I should have to buy more than one copy of the software. Oh well I am pretty comfortable with Win 98Se and it looks like I will be keeping it for a while now.

i didn't really read the article but is seemed that the gist was that your hw + bill's sw = unique number

i'm sure the boys at *****.ru are working on this already - weeren't they the ones who got into the ms server anyway

Just read a thread at Anand that says they have already cracked the protection code guess time will tell if it is true or not.

I don't have a copy but the workaround was posted at anchordesk too I think, something about getting part the way through, shutting down, and changing reg keys or something along those lines but it seemed to bypass the current versions protection.
If they fully go through with this it will piss off so many people, I've said before even at work I use the same cd to install all sorts of stuff but I own licenses to each one I install I just don't feel like carrying a load of cds around, and all the machines surely don't have internet access and no way I'm calling MS every time for a new key.
