Hey Everyone!
I am getting Win2k probably tomorrow. I am currently running WindowsME on my celeron system(piece of crap system) and I want to know if I should upgrade to Win2k, or wait for a computer upgrade?

Also, what differences are there in the two OS's?

Thanks!

Way different!
ME= Enhancement (if you can call it that) of Windows 98, seems pretty buggy.
2000= Woo!!! Based on NT, extremely stable. There are a few compatibility problems, but not many... check out NT Compatible for all of that stuff. A bunch of people have run Windows 2000 for over a year without even rebooting. It does not suffer from slow performance after keeping it on for awhile because it does not have memory leaks/loss of system resources. Win2k does require a good deal of RAM. 256 MB is a good amount, but more is even better (unlike 9x/ME, Windows 2000 actually uses the extra RAM you throw at it). Windows 2000 is not too demanding overall, but RAM is important.
I would say go for Windows 2000, I loved it when I had it. Sadly I had to go back to 98SE but I think I am gonna format/install 2k again :D A fresh install is optimal for Win 2k; I would definitely not recommend an upgrade from Win98/SE, which caused some problems when I tried it.
I hope this was a bit of a help :)

You'll be fine with 192. I ran it with 128 for a while, but 256 was better :)

what i like about 2k is that it seems more stable and smoother - also when a game locks up for whatever reason, i am able to get to the task manager and kill it and try again without doing a reboot
