Kaspersky, Russia, and the Antivirus Paradox

I don't think there's any deliberate collusion between Kaspersky and the Russian government, but this is an issue with ALL anti virus. When you install AV you are allowing a program to sit in the operating system's kernel and intercept EVERYYTHING. It has to do that to do it's job. If there's a flaw in that AV program then someone could use it as a way to hack your whole PC.

That's why for years now, those of us in the IT business have been recommending to just use Microsoft's build-in Defender (in Win8 & 10) and run as a limited user (which is going to protect you more than any AV app). Installing anything else for AV protection just INCREASES your possible vulnerability because these AV programs are so complex now, and inherently have to have bugs.
