0Patch: Free updates for Win7 for next 3 years

Post by FlyingPenguin »

Heard about this on Security Now: 0Patch.com is a service that's offering micro patches for critical security flaws in Win7. They just patched the serious JScript.dll flaw that Microsoft isn't planning to have a patch for until patch Tuesday next week.

It's free for personal and home use - they make their money off corporate clients.

If you're still running Win7 for some reason, it's worth looking into. It basically replaces Windows Update: https://0patch.com/

Hmmm.....I'll have to check it out. I have 2 Win 7 VMs that are running some automated tasks and apps that when I tried to migrate to Win10, it was a mess so I rolled back.

Strange. I decided to install it on a VM to check it out. After reading the FAQ, it does not alter any files, but installs micro code in memory. I don't know...I'd like to hold out for another site or place that may upload real updates.
