Adobe Flash Player ending support-what to use now?

Post by darcy »

I got this popup when I turned on laptop. -
"Adobe will stop supporting Flash Player after December 31, 2020".

I'm pretty sure I need this for a game I play.
What should I do/use now?

I haven't done anything yet,, I clicked "Remind Me Later" for the time being,,
Thank you :)
( am using Firefox )

Only required if it's a web-based game.

Yes, Adobe is (thank God!) killing off Flash. No one should be using it.

If you really need it, just keep using the last version that becomes available. They're not turning it off, they're just not supporting it or updating it anymore. Firefox (and Chrome) both don't allow Flash to run by default anymore, and only on a per-website basis now (the first time you played that game Firefox would have asked you for permission to allow Flash to run). That's a security step the browsers are using to protect you from Flash abuse on malicious websites.

Most websites don't use flash anymore, and eventually any remaining Flash games will die off, or be re-written in HTML5.

Matter of fact, it's possible your game is already running HTML5.

Ok, thank you, FP,, and yes, it's a web-based game, and the only one I play on my laptop. Used to be able to find it on a few websites, but now only the one ( well, the only one that doesn't pause the game for ads, etc.; it's called Bookworm.).
