Why does MS keep pushing this (creating an account)? I have no use for a MS account or even their onedrive. I always have to disable them.

Same. Which is why I always use Pro. Easier to work around these things with Pro because they have to support local accounts for enterprise users for things like kiosks and medical devices, etc. Pro also gives you more control over updates.
