Copy of an "email" just sent to Staples via their website (would have sent a real email, but how would one even get a real email addy to send to?):

Rebate tracking number 15645070, $20 Mail-In Rebate with purchase of BEST DATA MACH2 PCI 56K v. 90 Modem AND a $10.00 shop for free certificate mailed to me, good 11-15 thru 12-15:

I was just in your Park City (84098) store. I had your postcard that looks like a check and the $10.00 certificate.

YOUR OWN STORE WOULD NOT HONOR YOUR CHECK and my bank said that to them, it’s JUST A POSTCARD.

I was talking with three of your people about this, and they were clueless. Couldn’t cash a "third party check", would "call my bank on Monday and authorize", etc. I got so flustered I gave them the check, certificate, and basket, told them I would find what I need somewhere else, and left.

I’ve always had much better luck with staples. I buy from you online and at the B&M. This, however, is unacceptable.

What’s going on with you folks these days? Is this a scam, or what?

Anyone here have experiece with this? What do you think I should expect?

Will keep you updated...

I've received many of those "postcard" checks and never had a problem with my bank cashing them. I'd go inside and if a cashier refuses to then speak with a manager.

Faith has been restored!

Hi Ruth,

I have to agree with you, my bank should have cashed that check. After talking with a few folks about
this, I see it should have been a very routine thing. I have been back to the local Staples several times
since all this, I really like the store and the people there.

Also, I would like to thank you for your time, consideration, and graciousness on this. I would be
very happy just to have a $30 credit. My address is:

(Name)
(Address)
Park City, UT 84098

Thanks again, and have a GREAT day,

Dan

Ruth’s (immediate) reply:

Comment: I must say, my faith in Staples is very much restored (not that I’m surprised, I’ve been impressed with them for some time now). I’d highly recommend Staples to anyone!

First Class!
