sbp has a crucial point. We DO NOT nogotiate with terrorists. Bush is taking a very huge step, and frankly I think he is doing a great thing. North Korea is (supposedly) making nuclear bombs with a plan in mind, and that plan includes indirectly killing inocent people. (That is, if I heard right above). Killing inocent people is a form of terrorism. Bush is working to try to eliminate that threat at much as possible.

Now, it would be easy to just tell the Koreans, "to go screw themselves." But it would come back to bite us in the ass in the future. That is not a maybe, it WILL. If we were to leave all the ungrateful countries, they would probably become overun with terrorists and than we would have to use even more resrources to reposess that area. We can put up with this, let the koreans bitch and moan. It will fade out, and they will be thankful when the time comes that we put up with there shit and stayed.

Anyways. I may have incorrect facts, I dunno. Most of it was based of my opinion. :)

We DO NOT nogotiate with terrorists.

Point taken.
The problem is WE made those "Terrorists" .Period. We reap what we have sown. This is what happens when we let a our government rule the people.

i don't know what most people on this board belive, but I think there are way too many obvious questions that have been cast aside in the name of 'National
Security' for anyone with half a brain to
overlook.
I find it a rather uniuqe situatiton where
in Kenya for instance that the strela (SAM) tubes were abandon in a field but the support devices (Battery packs , guidance support) were nowhere to be found. How did the so-called attack occur? the 757 hasn't a rear view mirror and the missile being a heat seeker sure as hell dosen't knock on the cockpit door just to let the captian know it's 'There'.There was no 2800 squak or any type of signal to anyone from the airliner indicating a flight anamoly at anytime also no report from the crew of a 'bump'.How do these people know what happaned? How was it reported so fast after the bombing at the hotel? By a NY times reporter ? Explain to me how in less than 12 hrs. the "Dead Missles" were found if there was no point of refrence to start with unless someone knew what was going on?
yeah, I'm a kook, but like it or not these questons are asked.
Back to the root of the problem ;Al-queda is a problem we developed prior to the Soviet/Afgan war, we made it so it's our lunch.

Thanks CIA

McArther or the Yula river?
I don't understand.
If History is correct (And I think hindsite is) Mc A wanted to cross the Yula river and give the N. Korea army the ass kicking they so much deserved. However un beknown to his best of intel 160,000
well armed chinese regulars staged to what would be known as his ass and waited for him to advance - thus setting
a classic hammer /anvil situation for our
beloved general. The mans deft and sheer balls- extricating his men is one of the real true heroic stories from that mess.

toomuchtime is right though, we did somewhat create these terrorits. Back during the ineffective Clinton administration. Clinton just sat on his ass enjoy himself with Monica, he never really did anything. At the same time, he enjoyed taking credit for the booming economy. He never really did anything while in office. If I remember correctly, we once helped Afghanistan, and when we were done, we pulled out and didn't help rebuild their government. Thus, al quida formed. Now its biting us in the ass..

hmm, I hope that's right, I'm not too sure. My memory of what I read seems just a little fuzzy. However, I'm not wrong about Clinton. :)

About 15,000 people carrying candles protested across the street from the American Embassy on Saturday, in the largest show of anti-U.S. sentiment in years.

The protesters, upset with what they say is preferential treatment to American soldiers in Korea, booed and chanted ``President Bush apologize!'' and ``Let's drive out the murderous American GIs!''

Protesters distributed leaflets urging citizens not to buy American goods including Coca-Cola, Marlboro cigarettes and McDonald's hamburgers.

News reports said there were also smaller protests in 40 provincial towns across the country, and between 50,000 and 100,000 Koreans turned out in all. Police could not confirm the figures.

A six-person vocal group sang a song during the rally in Seoul that was rife with American slogans and a refrain of ``Yankee go home!''

Its understood that South Korea is growing up and finding its voice. That after being ruled by the Japanese and then events after WWII, South Koreans want to take pride in their country. Thats fine. But remember it can go overboard and scapegoating can be easily done. Another thing is other countries like Ireland had bad times also and yet don't behave this way.

Its also realized there are valid reasons for not being thrilled with the US military there like pollution and crime. Thats fine. In addition just having power and being visible causes resentment. But part of being mature is knowing how to offer suggestions and taking responsibility for one's self. And it doesn't help US-South Korea relations to go over overboard again and again. This is not the first time these sort of events have happened, is it? And there will be a next time.

Sad thing is South Korea has taken a black eye with these events. I also suspect some of this is fuel by racism. "Go home white devil. Go home n word."

Something is wrong when the US is viewed as being bad, while North Korea is viewed as good.

They want us to leave, we'll leave. Seems a simple enough solution. If US troops are not in South Korea, then there will be no more protesting. But then the US would get bashed for leaving and not caring about South Korea. "Damned if you do, damned if you don't."

So when North Korea acts up again, a polite decline should be given. See, someone is not insulted repeatly then ran back to when the crap hits the fan. That does not fly. Welcome to the big bad world baby. :D "Show respect, get respect. Act poorly, get treated as such."

Yet even more protests.
http://www.cnn.com/2002/WORLD/asiapcf/e ... index.html

<i>SEOUL, South Korea -- More than 50,000 South Koreans have rallied in Seoul to protest the deaths of two teenage girls killed after being hit by a U.S. military vehicle.

Elsewhere in South Korea, an estimated total of 250,000 people took to the streets in the biggest demonstration since the two soldiers, whose vehicle killed the girls, were acquitted of negligent homicide charges in U.S. military courts last month. </i>

BUT THEN...

North Korea hates us too (shocker huh)
http://www.cnn.com/2002/WORLD/asiapcf/e ... index.html

<i>Amid a row over its nuclear weapons program, North Korea's ruling party newspaper has fired a barb at Washington, saying the country is ready to deliver "bitter defeat and death" to a threatening United States.</i>

"Threatening" only because we are upset they went against an agreement(which they signed) to NOT start making nuclear weapons.

Looks like it may happen, NK invades SK. Then all of a sudden SK begs us for help yet again. What decision to make. On one hand we'd be faced with a larger communist nation if we don't assist, or help people who despise us.

I agree, we should leave SK and let the chips fall where they may. For that matter any country who is this ungrateful we should stop all assistance of any kind. But then they'd just use "the Americans refuse to help us" bitch while acting all innocent and accepting zero responsibility.

haha, sounds like many trolls we know eh. :D

U.S. soldiers attacked

AN unarmed US army lieutenant colonel has been attacked by knife-wielding South Korean men outside a US army base amid simmering anti-US sentiment.

Three South Koreans in their early 20s attacked the officer late Sunday as he left Yongsan, the main US military base in central Seoul, and was walking to his home.

The officer was treated at a US army hospital for a cut on his left side and minor abrasions and bruises, it said. South Korean police were looking for the Koreans.

The unprovoked attack came amid growing anti-US setiment sparked by the recent acquittal of two US soldiers charged over the deaths of two South Korean girls in a road accident involving a US military vehicle.

The attack began when the Koreans insulted the officer and cursed at him in English as they approached him in an underpass, according to the US military statement.

The officer did not respond to the provocation, attempting to pass the Koreans peacefully, but they attacked him from behind.

One of the Koreans then punched the officer between his shoulders, shoving him headfirst into the underpass wall, while a second man lunged at him, attempting to stab him in the stomach with a five-inch knife, it said.

"He was able to twist away, but sustained a minor cut to his left side where the knife grazed him," it said.

The attack ended when Boylan struck the knife-wielding attacker once in self-defense and left the scene, it said.

"...three U.S. soldiers said they were attacked by South Koreans after a minor traffic accident.

In another altercation early on Sunday morning, three U.S. soldiers said their car was rear-ended by a taxi, whose South Korean occupants then got into a fight with the Americans."
