Me and Lady of the Lakes Renaissance Faire

Post by FlyingPenguin »

This was back in April. Sadly I've put on 10 pounds since then. Want to lose it before the next faire.

Nope. Polo shirt and khaki slacks I'm afraid :-)

Oddly, despite being a pretty quality dork, I never got into these. Not to say that I won't in the future. I'm gonna be a full blown Samurai for Halloween & I hand make all of my costumes.

As Geoge Carlin said once "Why is leather so expensive? Cows aren't hard to kill - you just walk up to it and hit it over the head with a hammer."

It's amazing how much the accouterments can cost. I'm not a nut for authenticity (I'm wearing regular slacks with the hems rubber-banded and rolled up, with leather sandals from Payless Shoes) but each Fair I try to buy one thing to add to the ensemble to make it look better.

That mug is real brass and I drink my beer out of it. I also have a sword but I find it a nuisance to wear most of the time. I also forgot to grow a beard for this show - it's the only time I ever allow hair on my face.
