Far Cry (first game) 2004

Post by Executioner »

I fired this game up today, and I forgot how tough it was. I'm playing it on my Dell Latitude 6540 laptop. All the settings are maxed out. If you make a simple mistake, you're dead. Does not matter how much health and armor you have. Makes it realistic. Anyway, I'm dying a lot, but a fun game from the past. I also remember how fun multi player was. My son and I used to have a blast playing this using some network cards.

I still love this game all these years later. The AI was great then and is sill good now (though, I became really good at predicting the baddies after a while).

I'm still trying to finish it. I'm at the last map - Volcano. Twice I died trying to jump from the rock to the hill so I could go up to the radar tower. Every time I fall in the lava. You can't even save the game at that point so I have to start all over.

FarCry was a fun game for self-imposed challenges. I remember completing the first area by trying to get a vehicle to the end of the area.

Now I'm at the very end -

Forgot how hard this game was when you get close to the end.

I also found a x64 bit version patch. More info at this site:

Once I finish what I'm currently playing, I'm going to try these patches for the x64 bit version of the game.

I went ahead and installed the x64 version patch along with t he enhanced content patch. Works great as the visuals are so much vibrant. The resolution I'm running is 1920x1080x32 on my NVIDIA Geforce GTX1660 TI. I have an older monitor Samsung that I bought about 8-10 years ago and I haven't upgraded it yet to something better. If I upgraded the monitor, can it run in 1920x1080x64?

Does this run under Win10?

Yeah I'm running it under Win10 with no issues on my laptop and desktop.
