going to be down for 10 to 12 weeks .

Post by reno »

im going to more then likely go batty . im have surgery on my left hand and was told i'll be 12 weeks to recover . first 6 weeks it be pretty much fully bandaged and in a ace wrap. then 6 more week till i have full or near full use of it with rehab. they need to slice / dice open the palm to repair some muscles. that maybe do to a injury some 15 to 20 years ago. Im right handed so im lucky this way . I just know my left hand has always seem to be the one. that I had to go to the ER for with work related cuts and worst.
I may take a short road trip to Georgia. to see friends when im given the ok by the DR. I'll be going wife be staying in florida . it be a month before that will happen and given the ok to drive. anyway its on the 27th that i get my hand operated on.
what I have is called dupuytrens-contracture and it affected my ring finger .the same finger i massed up years ago and loss the tip of.

Damaged pulley? I recently almost completely snapped the pulley on my left middle finger. Hurt to grab anything. Been doing physical therapy for about a year now. Better than surgery. But my case wasn't as bad as it could be.

well I was wrong about rehab - got a call from this part of the treatment yesterday -I'm to report 2 weeks after surgery. may have to rearrange a road trip. to Georgia we were thinking of doing to a friends home. figured we go there about week 4 or 6 while recovering.

surgery was done today .had to be there at 6:15 am . was done about 10:30 hand bandaged up and its like a big mitt. fingers are covered but open and wrap to about 1/3 up my arm. there a hard cast inside wrap 2/3 around my hand and go to wrist to limit movement.my thumb is free to move no bandage . let the healing begin already needed and started my pain meds but trying to do only 1/2 pill at a time :).

Time to decorate the bandage so it looks like Thanos' gauntlet :D

im really not sure it worth the bull Shit and this is only day 5 . still a week 7 days before i see the DR again . also knowing week's of pt .but it's to late to change my mind. still taking my pain meds every 4 hours around the clock . the cast / bandage is very uncomfortable 24/7 .I do have a little bit of finger movement on 3 of the 4 fingers. having to sleep with arm above my head weird. it was elected surgery on my part . it wasn't like It just happen . lived with it for years and it can return again I have read . it rare but can happen. its the discomfort now more then pain of the cast and hand wrap all up .like a having big oven mitt on but way more restrictive .

Image hand like this but the difference is. there a ace bandage wrap - its taco shape plaster cast only around the middle finger to and around baby finger . as to protect the palm of my hand. so like I said before my my thumbs the only one that has true movement. also the fingers are being keep straight out not bent .
