I too started skiing when I was about that age BUT that was back in about '71 (yes) and now that I'm older and truely hate being cold, I only sit indoors and THINK about skiing even though there's a ski hill about 2 miles away from my house. Every year during warmer weather I think about trying it again but I just don't motivate past that point. If it was 70F degrees with snow, surely I'd be there ;)

eight days so far this year, although it has been way too warm down here in the tropics. The snow they were able to make is just about gone.

I haven't ever went skiing, but that was either because I always had tons of work or never had the time/money to go. I was talking with someone and they said Snowboarding is so much more fun and less training is needed (even easier than skateboarding they said). So I would want to try that first. Seems much more fun anyway. :D

I've never been skiing before... I can't walk on ice let alone go down a hill out of control...lol My buddy tried it once and broke his leg... I prefer to play in the snow on motorized vehicles doing 100mph :D

Try snowboarding, its more enjoyable.
I can do both very well so I'm not bashing skiing.

Been going to Keystone every year for about 8 years.
Just got back about a month ago and probably be heading to Winter Park the end of Feb.

Too bad I live in Orlando and I can only make it to the slope a couple of times a year.

been boarding since '96. tried skiing once before, never went back.

I've been to tahoe twice so far this season (3-4 hour drive), and plan to go up at least twice a month till it all melts away.

I used to ski a lot, haven't been yet this year though. The high point of my skiing was getting to ski in the Austrian Alps where I was able to take a couple private clinincs with a pro... what a rush that was
and what improvments I got in my turns and poling techinques.

lol, do i even need to comment? Canada has it perks I must admit! Ya, been on the slopes for about a decade now. Though I dropped skiing 6 years ago in favor of snowboarding and I havn't looked back! It's just too much fun!

Any ya, snowmobiling is fun. Something about going 120mph on a sled gets the blood pumping! It's also fun if you're being pulled behind it on a rope riding a snowboard too! (though not at 120, lol, i like living too much)

well, i think i decided that since i have the money i am either going to buy skis or snowblades. um the blades are really kool, i tried them twice. i dont tihnk i would do to well to learn how to snowboard. its taken me about ten times just to learn how to snowboard, and i like my nosethe way it is. I was ski ing last year with my school ski club and one of the girls got hurt in like the middle of the hill. so this snowboarder was carrying her skis and he was going down and the front of his board got caught and he fell right on his face. then my freinds brother was snowboarding, this kid like ran over his board and he fell, put a huge gash in his face. at least on skis if someone takes there board over ya it wont do anything, least it nver has to me. anyone ever heard of snowtrails ski resort.? its like fourty five mibnutes from my house, pretty kool. this week they hosted the mountiain dew big air and slop style compettition. it was awesome.

Sorta OT but........

Post by EvilHorace »

....with the winter Olympics coming up there's one very fun looking sport that I'd love to try, bob sleding but unfortunately your average person can't just go somewhere and try it. Doesn't it look like it'd be a blast?

I've never tryed snowboarding but if I can motivate to our local ski hill this year (STILL not out of the question), I might give it a try. I havent been on skis since '82 (wow, 20 yrs!!!).

Snowmobiling is a blast and again, something I havent done since '74 and they only went about 35mph back then. Todays snowmobiles are very fast, too fast for some (many deaths the WI) yet our area of the state doesn't get enough snow for me to own one as people here trailer them up north to get to the good trails as N WI gets lots of snow. Snowmobiling in N.WI is very cool (although usually sub-zero temps) with lots of trails going everywhere. Most adults go from bar to bar to warm up.

I'd love to do bobsledding too... That has to be a serious rush... And Zyph snowmobiles are a blast... I haven't went yet this year probably will go in a couple weeks... Usually go with a buddy of mine who has a couple i've got this computer addiction that keeps me from buying one... But the one i want runs about $8000 so its gonna be a while till i get that :D Riding at night is the best especially on a clear night... Just gotta watch out for those low branches...lol
