Unlocked ? Locked ?

Post by NascarFool »

If you look at an Athlon XP, you'll see all the bridges on L1 are cut. On L4 you can see two of the four have laser cuts. But from what I see, the other two are not visibly connected. Are they connected below the surface of the chip ?

It would depend on the chip; it seems that some of them are cut when they are not really done so and others seem connected when they are not......I'm still looking for a chart that shows the the various cuts for the different speeds.

Well, I set the jumpers for 12x and it worked for a while. It even showed as an XP 1900+. Then I set the dipswitches back to jumper free mode and all hell broke loose. On start up it showed as an XP 2000+ at 13x133. But once it booted up, SANDRA showed it as an XP 2000+ at 11x133. So I went back to the bios and it showed as an XP 2000+ also, I cranked up the FSB to 150. Upon rebooting, big hard crash. I had to format and start fresh. I removed the unlocking job and now it's back as an XP 1800+ again. I'll mess with it after my new mobo arrives. :)
