Turn on all the eye candy you want, but do NOT use 32 bit textures - use 16 bit. Even on a fast system it'll bog it down.

I'm running a P3-1000 and a Geforce3 Ti-200 overclocked to standard GF3 speed. Silky smooth her at 800x600 and not bad at 1024x768, although sometimes it'll burb in single player (I don't think it's the graphics in single player, it's the AI and scripted events slowing it down).

Almost missed the display at Walmart. The game is packaged in a smaller than normal box (about time they started doing that instead of wasting money on a big box) and they had then in a special display case at the end of the aisle and not in the game rack.

Well, thanks to MOH, I went out and got a PNY GF3 Ti200....Very nice card...currently running at 200/475.

I do see some improvement in framerates as it never goes below 40. I wonder if a CPU upgrade is in order. However, I really don't want to go through the new MB, etc....and only want to upgrade my chip ( P3 700@933).. Since I have a BE6-II MB, this really limits my CPU upgrading.

Alot of ppl who have much faster systems seem to be having the same problems. I guess I will just give the game some time and see what patches do to the engine.

BTW, the new 1.1 patch came out today I noticed, but all the servers are slow in upgrading to it.

AMD 1.4 Ghz, GF2 32MB, 512MB RAM, 2 80GB in RAID0, Win2k. 1024x768, 16-bit color, 16-bit textures, and pretty high eye candy and no real slowdowns. Or the slowdowns happen not very often.

You guys all finding servers on that crappy GameSpy Arcade?

I haven't seen retail servers in Gamespy3D yet - guess they need to release a new version. I hate Gamespy Arcade. I won't install it.

If anyone finds any good servers, post IP addresses here please.

BLUE WEASEL: You could go up to a P3-1000 or P3-1100 but since you're nearly overclocked to that already, it's probably not worth it.

I was in the same boat. This system is mission critical and I was too busy to deal with the hassle of a mobo replacement, so I upgraded my Slot1 P3-550@733 to a P3-1000. Very happy with the performance boost and everything runs great on my GF3 Ti-200 at 1024x768 (I can run Half-Life a bit higher).

I really don't believe you need anything faster unless you want to run at a higher resolution, and I can't see the real need for anything much beyond 1024x768 in most games.

New gore and blood patch here: http://www.mohcenter.com/downloads/mods ... anguage=en

Doesn't add splatters like CounterStrike, but it's better than no blood, and supposed to be better than the blood patch for the demo I'm using now. Downloading it as I type....

UPDATE: Yes, this patch is definately an improvement over the blood patch for the demo.

It's on sale at Media Play and Beast Buy for $35 and I've got the 20% off coupon at home in PC Gamer, so I'll prolly pick it up t'row for $28. (Some Ferrengi tore out the ads from the magazine racks, bastages.)

I noticed the new boxes that EZ is using and it's about f*cking time! B&W:CI, SimGolf, new copies of the Sims, MoH:AA, FIFA2K2 were the ones I saw at Beast Buy and I saw a bunch of games in DVD cases, including Myst III: Exile and Evercrack Trilogy. They're also repackaging failed games like Project: IGI and Hitman together for $30-$40.

In game browser's an improvement, although it's wayyyy too primitive (no favorites?).

Gamespy needs to hurry up and release an updated version of Gamespy3D - it's all I use.

The new in game browser is horrible! It doesn't tell you much for one thing, and everytime you leave a server it refreshes the whole damn list! Very annoying when you're trying to find a server to play on that is actually patched and doesn't have lag problems. Guess I'll stick to the lesser of 2 evils, Gamespy Arcade...

Dont use gamespy! Use all-seeing eye! Although it doesnt support MOH final yet, it is much better coded than that shoddy POS known as Gamespy. The interface is loads better also. Give it a try, its an awesome alternative to that bloated monstrosity.

I use an older gamespy browser for all games that I play except Wolf (in game is fine for me). I dislike ASE b/c when I used it in XP I would experience the reboot upon exit problem. Switched back to the old Gamespy I generally used and the problem went away.

Just got it today and I feel I'm in for a long night. Love it :D One question though, why does the game want to connect me to the internet? I don't play multiplayer but every time I start the game in dials up. If I turn the modem off my computer locks up tighter than a drum.

Edit--As usual I ask before I look. :) Anyone having the auto dialup problem check out the link. There isn't really much of a solution though. I think we should invite SSGermanOfficer over here from lessons in respect. That guy is just plain rude and obnoxious.

My mistake - the new Gamespy3D DOES support the retail version of MOHAA.

I know some people find Gamespy3D arcane to use, but I like it. I've used it since QuakeWorld and I use nothing else.

BTW: Just came from the Miami Red-Eye LAN party this weekend. All we played was MOHAA and LAN performance is AWESOME. We had 15 people on a game of objective match on the Omaha map - it was AWESOME.

LAN performance convinces me that the big problem with MOHAA online play is the lack of good servers and that the game probably needs the network code tweaked a bit better for internet play. It reminds me of the poor internet performance of the retail version of Quake3 before the first major point release update.

d_b: If you remember, Quake3 had the same dialup bug in the original retail release, which confirms to me that MOHAA is using an early code base of the Quake3 engine and there's still room for improvement.
