After 4 beers they all taste the same. I dont drink for the taste, I drink to get buzzed.
Hehe... when I was younger (and poorer and drank like a fish) my philosophy was to make the FIRST two beers good expensive imports, and then drink any old crap after that. After the first two it doesn't matter... :)

Now that I'm older and (maybe) wiser and limit myself to 2 a day, I make both those good beers... :chug

PS: Coors tasted better when it was illegal to buy it in Florida. I don't think the formula changed, just my perceptions.

Why is drinking Coors like making love in a canoe? It's F'ing close to water. :p

My personal fav is good old Coors Original the Banquet Beer...lol I'm kinda partial to the lemon brews that are out now... Mikes Hard Lemonade and Doc Otis is what i usually drink mabye a couple a week if i'm lucky... Not much into gettin' hammered anymore... The whole family life settled me down... When i got out i like grabbin' a Glass of Oil(thats what i call it otherwise known as Porter) We've got a micro brewery here in town called Grants that makes a decent Porter along with a bunch of other funky stuff.

If anyone has been to Puerto Rico you have probably tried Meddallia, it's a nice very light beer that you can drink socially, only takes about 20 of them to catch a buzz, great for when you are drinking all day long while fishing or what have you.

Now that I am stateside I like the very ritzy stuff, Old Milwaukee, hell yeah baby, that's good stuff. When your taste buds have been destroyed by the formaldehyde laced crap you get in most ports overseas you don't give a damn what you are driking, get it cold enough and dog piss would be drinkable, sailors and dog piss, I mean beer, they go together like Mike and Ike.

In all actuallity the Navy is trying to do it's best to deglamorize alchol and teach responsible use, so I only drink beer on days that end in Y now.

Beer? Now here's a subject that I can relate to. :D

Some of my favorites include Sam Adams Double Bock and Scotch Ale, Guiness Stout in the bottle (but not the draft), Bass, Harp, Pete's wicked Ale, Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale and on a hot Texas afternoon an ice cold Shiner Bock does taste damn good. :)

Speaking of Beer...

My wife got me the coolest Valentine's day present ever: A Brewsack. It's a bit, 12 litre bag with malted hops and barley in it. It also came with a yeast packet. You just add hot water, yeast, and let it brew/condition for a month. She said she wanted to get me a home brew kit, but they were a bit pricey (we set budgets on gifts). We also live in an apartment, and brewing beer takes up valuable space in our already stuffed apartment.

My wife's the best. :)

OH YEAH... My wife used to get me a Brewsack every few months. It's easy and if you follow the instructions carefully it comes out tasting pretty good.

Hehe... went to Jamaica once and while I was on a tour boat sucking down some Red-Stripe (the local brew for those who don't know) I asked all the crew if they drank Red-Stripe.

They all (to a man) said "F@ck no, man. That Red Stripe piss is for da tourists. I drink Heinekein!" :)

MMMMMM beer....

I like just about any kind of beer. My favorite is Labbat's Blue, but I enjoy Molson Canadian, Tennets (scottish brew if I recall correctly), Guiness stout (draft only), Kilkenny, Rickard's Red, Bass, Harp, more that I can't bring to mind right now.

MMM good

Reading this thread made me seek out some new (more costly than the usual nightly swill, MGB light) brewski's last night so I started with one of those Fosters "oil cans" which wasn't bad IMO but not spectacular. I then moved onto a Lions Lager (better yet) but then......Leinenkugel's Big Butt Doppelbock which is fabulous! Leinee's (several varieties, made right here in WI) is truely great beer, as good if not better than Samual Adams varieties I also pick up on occasion. Samual Adams Cherry wheat is another favorite that I'll get once in a while. Our local Pick&Save food store here has a really good beer and liquor department so I don't have to go too far to find these things. I usually pick up a six pack or two of something like that, out of the oridinary once a week.
Then there's a fairly new all Polish food store and deli not too far from here and they sell many Polish beers there too. Anyone here know what Polish beers are good, or better than the others? They're all names that I've never heard of before. Maybe "the Doc" knows?
In the summer I often get other stuff like Schmirnoff Ice or one of those hard lemonade or other friut type drinks but those seem much better in warmer weather than winter.

Something from my younger days has always troubled me. Here's the old (circa 1970's) Schaeffer's Beer jingle:

"Schaeffer's
is the
one beer to have
when you're having more than one!"

So (considering Schaeffers tastes like rat's piss IMO) was the implication of the marketting department that if you're drinking ONE beer you should go out and buy a good one, but if you're planning on getting crocked, you might as well save your money and buy a couple of six-packs of Schaeffer's? :p

hehe! That ad reminds of the ads that Milwaukee's Best ran a little while back. Everyone I know calls it 'The Beast', for reasons which I think are obvious. Let's face it, no American Lager should taste 'thick'.

Well, the good folks at Milwaukee's Best actually ran ads calling the beer 'The Beast'. When I first saw that, I was rolling.
