He wasn't funny on SNL...

Post by Solstice »

... so what makes them think Colin Quinn is going to be funny with his own show? Did anyone else catch his show tonight? It was so lame. It was like a never-ending monologue like you might see on Leno or Letterman. I kept thinking "this isn't a show. It's just a bunch of people telling jokes." Honestly I wasn't expecting much and only watched it to confirm my belief that it will die an early death.

Yup, I saw about 5 minutes of it. It was thinly-disguised standup, in 2-3 minute spurts.

I thought it sucked, as well. Mostly because Colin Quinn sucks. I don't know who thought he was funny enough for SNL.

I always hated when he did the News on SNL. Listening to his monotone voice drove me nuts.

i dont think he ever caught on that people weren't laughing with him, they were laughing at him.

I hate his monotone punch line delivery. No one compares to Norm MacDonald.

Ain't that the truth. He delivered the news with a good voice and when he knew the joke was a little over the top, he just went with it and made it funnier.....

"...Baskin Robbins officials state that they've narrowed the salmonella contamination down to one of three flavors: Vanilla, Rocky Road, or Uncooked Pork Swirl."

Yeah, MacDonald was funny. Especially as Burt Reynolds on the Celebrity Jeopardy skits.

Colin Quinn survived on SNL for so very long for the same reason he survived on MTV for so long...

He was "screwing the pooch"

Whomever's pooch he was screwing was powerful enough to get smart people to bend over as much as Quinn did.

He seldom ever delivered a punchline on SNL without screwing it up with a stutter or a stammer. I hope his next job is as a bike delivery boy, just so he could shed a few pounds...
