I'd change out tha ata/100 cable, be sure the bios is set to automatically detect and be sure than the motherboard can handle a hard drive of that size... If you've done these few things and it still don't show up.. Its Dead..

It rarely happens but it does happen, DOA, even HDDs with a quality packaging like the SeaShell.
You tested it in 2 different systems and it wasn't detected in the BIOS = not a good sign. It is an IDE drive, so pretty much plug&play (unlike SCSI with termination and stuff). Does it at least spin up?

Well, that is not really important. It is a new drive, so go for a quick exchange for a replacement drive.

PHREID; You said it's not detected in Ghost, but does BIOS detect it?

I've had situations where Ghost won't see it for a variety of reasons, but the drive is detected in BIOS.

If BIOS sees it it's probably not DOA.

Make sure it's jumpered right - not sure about Seagate but WDC drives have a DIFFERENT jumper setting for single master, and master with slave. The drive may or may not be detected by BIOS if improperly jumpered, but Ghost definately won't see it.
