which mobo would you get?

it is between Gigabyte GA-7VRXP and ASUS A7V333-R.
same chipset i think, similar features. but there is a bit of a price difference favoring gigabyte. i was set on the ASUS until i just read the specs on this gigabyte board. i already have a gigabyte board and i really like it. just wondering what you folks would prefer between the two.
planning on xp2000+ CPU
Samsung 256 PC2700x2 or maybe 512 module

gigabyte is in the same boat as MSI right now...
both have a history of crappy parts but their current offerings are excellent...(in general)
I never did like asus but this p4b533 is throwing out some insanely good scores....my cpu is maxed so I cant test ocing too heavily but the options/voltages are there. Stability and performance are top notch...
same cpu/ram/vidcard all at same speeds the p4b533 scored 1000 3dmarks better than my 645u
maybe I'll reevalute my position on asus

D00d i dont know what your talking bad bout the Asus for. I have had the A7V333 for a while now, and It is great! I would recommend it to anyone anyday. I used to have an older Soyo attached to my T-Bird, but the Scores that i get with the Asus Are mych better. (PcMark, 3d Mark, and some Si-soft) I have heard a couple of things about the Gigabyte, both good and bad, but It seems to be a pretty good board as well.
Stupid people do stupid things, smart people outsmart each other, then themselves.
oops, i almost had forgot about epox. i also have a lower end epox i have had a while with (almost)no probs.
epox 8k5a3+ i am gonna put on my list; haven't checked prices or availability yet, but if it looks good, this one will likely be first on my list. i have also seen that soyo board and i know a lot of folks around these forums swear by it. i don't think it's gonna act right for what i am gonna use it for. but after reading some more, i have eliminated the ASUS board and will either go with the aforementioned epox or the gigabyte board...

The Epox 8K5A3+ if your not going to run 4 channel raid don't bother with it. It has 4 raid channel and 2 standard IDE. Its 120 bucks at newegg right now and i think 10 for shipping. The 8K5A2 or the + Version would be a little more reasonable choice and less in price. They are the same board just don't have 4 raid channels.

I'd go for the Gigabyte board if I were you, purely from personal experience of this manufacturer.
I currently have a GA7DXR+ and it has all sorts of features on it, at a fairly reasonable price. The specs on these boards are usually up there with the best of them and they are rock solid. I think they had some problems with one board they released recently but I can't remember the model - but, hey, everybody makes mistakes. Just glad it didn't have any impact on me!! heehee!!
My previous systems all had Gigabyte mobos and I never had any problems at all with any of them.
If it was down to me I would go Giga.
Jus' my opinion...

well, my Epox caught fire, so I'm sort of iffy about them right now, though they do have an outstanding reputation. The new mobo I bought was the Gigabyte...Raid, onboard ethernet, onboard sound (which I don't use), and two bioses (in case one fucks up b/c of a virus or just in case you f*ck up flashing your bios), and USB 2.0 support, I like it so far...been running it for only a day. I guess out of those two I'd choose the Gigabyte just b/c I like all the features, and I got mine off new egg for 100 bucks. A good
bang
for the buck...

I'd say go for the Gigabyte mobo. Gigabyte boards are very nice boards. They have a lot of features, a good price, and from what I have seen, they are good quality, too. I've got friends with machines with all sorts of mobos, including those from MSI, Gigabyte and ASUS, and the ones with Gigabyte and MSI boards seem to have had the least amount of motherboard related problems over the years.
Long live Linux!
cyborg, i also have that 7dxr+ and i am really happy with it. the dual bios really saved my butt when i upgraded bios for the first time and really didn't know what i was doing
it is still either the epox or the gigabyte, but i was wondering if either of the aforementioned boards would be able to support the new AMD "hammer" chips that are gonna be coming out(with maybe a BIOS upgrade), or are there gonna be a new set of boards i am gonna have to look at?
also 4-channel RAID, not now, but maybe some plans in the future...

wpublic, yep couldn't agree more about the dual bios feature - it makes the whole flash experience simple.
I recently flashed my bios with the latest version from the Gigabyte website and it's supposed to support up to XP2600 if that's any help to you.
having said that their latest board has the KT400 chipset and 8x AGP. Check it out at the website
