Fastest Bug...
Yeah, downhill.. that's the ticket!! lol.. I had a friend in Cali. that had a 74 that he put a Porche 911 motor and transaxle in and it would FLY!! Loved that car! lol.. That's some crazy stuff about your bud though.. I have seen some that were really into "sleepers" that did a lot of cutting on the front end to put V8s in them.. But the car would only last about 2 weeks before the frame was twisted and ready to fall apart.. lol..

When I was young and stupid I ran my 427 Corvette at 145 on a public road to my girlfriends house for a date (I was late). All my speeding is done closed circuit now. Max. is 150 in a Porsche Turbo (now sold) running 2/3 of the tri-oval and the road circuit at Pocono Raceway about 10 years ago. A close second was 145 in "slightly" modded 911 Carrera 4 at Watkins Glen about 3 years ago. A much harder place to go fast without alot of power. Both were excellent cars to drive at that speed. They are rock stable and very secure. I've been working too much to run track events recently so I haven't had the C5 Corvette out yet.

Fastest FEELING .................topping 100 mph in a Welsh forest, on a dusty track on edge of a mountain side, in a Talbot Sunbeam 1.6 Clubmans Rally car ............that was scary, and exhilerating, although I was Co Driver, head buried in the maps most of the time, but the big drop was my side of the car, dont think my mate Pat knew how big the drop was, and I never told him, we were going so well, no point putting him off! It was the best ever. Motor Sport rocks.........
I think I might put my crash helmet on the memory still scares me!
Damn Zak that's awesome in both the 6R4 and the Lotus Carlton ! both kick ass machines !

About 1977 or 78 I had a '69 firebird doing around
140 or so comming down 309 into Quarkertown
Pa. at 3am. It's not a good idea to pull that shit anymore. Times have changed.I had the speedo pegged (It went to 160) but I think it was more like 140+ .Nothing to brag about except it was a great ride and while I'm not really a GM fan that little 400 or 350 was a nice ride. The kicker of the story is that it was my older sister's car that she had it re-cammed and set for herself to be a little more street manageable,I can still hear the rumble of the lake pipes when I think about it...
Great car.

Well the fastest in my prelude was...hmmm damn have to convert this into MPH from our KPH...
135mph in my prelude on a straight stretch of hwy with 3 of us in the little 4cyl. damn, i miss that car.. i will see if i have a pic.
Fastest ever for me was in my firends 1970 Chevelle SS which was gutted and he had replaced everything in it. Engine, tranny(B&M shift kit) rear end etc. Crazy HP. All natural aperation. Anyhow we were driving home one late night and he turns to me and says "So, I haven't really let this thing out for you have I?" my reply... "nope". He says "hold on I could loose my licence for this!"
Needless to say it was hard to tell how fast we were going as the speedo had wrapped around back to 10MPH and then some. My uneducated guess was 160+MPH. Anyone know what those old Chevelle speedo's went to? I cant remember as the car was written off several years ago when he was driving and a semi (18wheeler) hit him doing 80Km/hr (50MPH) while he was at a red light. If it weren't for the car made of solid steel, he might not be alive because of the rear ender.
LOL, i remember he raced a camero IROC with a 305 and after a half mile, we had to wait to let him catch up. He was still flooring it as he caught up. Ahh a true man, has to floor it all the way to lessen the blow to his pride. Or next time buy a bigger engine!
Thats the fastest I have ever been travelling, outside of an airplane!

Just last night on my way home from LOTL

Thats in my 96 Blazer
In my previous 88' grand marquis, the speedometer only went up to 85....and the needle was past it quite a ways, so I think it was about 100mph
Other than that.....I was in my uncles Grand National and he just put in a new chip. Pretty sure we were over 130mph. Man that car rocks
