I got a $70 pair of the Phillips Magnavox and they were terrible. I never could get reception. At best, it sounded like a radio station that you couldn't pick up.
The whole experience has turned me off from wireless headphones. Maybe your luck will be better than mine.
Any particular brands you are considering?

nothing in particular - looking for a tech toy for the wife to get me xmas - I read some reviews and the 900 mhz ones seem to have a lot of static and good range - but they are subject to interference from lotsa stuff - the Infra red ones seem to have much better sound quality, but line of sight range about 20 feet -

stereoheadphones.net
they're listed as a retailer on the Amphony site.. however, i contacted several vendors and found that Amphony is a very small start up company.. the first local Retailer i found named Richland Group was really my local realtor but somehow they got listed as a vendor w/o them even ever opening an account .. i was told that the realtor went to some show and talked to their rep and expressed interest.. next thing you know they're listed as a vendor.. of course when they started taking orders for the H1000's, they find out they don't even have an account yet
regardless, i'd highly recommend that you use a nice CC w/ internet purchase protection.. this is my first experience with the company.. but w/ every order (read the product description for a coupon code) you get a free set of Sennheiser headphones
i'm crossing my fingers hoping this goes right.. they're supposed to get more in this week on top of their existing stock.. i sure hope this gets to me in time for xmas

finally got those headphones in!!!
i gotta say, i'm EXTREMELY impressed w/ the dealer...
the didn't have the stock the week i ordered. then thanks to amphony, they were mislead to think they'd have stock in the middle of that week. basically, i was then promised that i'd get the headphones the following week on wednesday (this week).
turns out amphony took their sweet time and got the new shipment to them on this wednesday. all orders on amphonies didn't ship out til wednesday...
i called them to find out why i didn't receive the h1000's on the day promised to me and a very courteous lady helped me track down the package
i was very suprised to come to work the next day to find out that the headset were overnighted to me via airbourne express...
my first impressions of the thing was CHEAP ASS POS... looked as if i was ripped off... the packaging look generic (characteristic of anything made in China)... the included stuff had cheap rubber bands to tied them... nothing was bagged or sealed.. even the batteries were cheap beyond belief...
but, with all the reviews i've read including consumer reports.. i went ahead and tested them out ... i couldn't believe my ears... they sounded absolutely awesome with my CDs... however, the reviews were right on the fact that this may not be 100% suitable for TV... certain lvls or voices actually, caused slight static... maybe that could've been from the fact that the TV signal was analog... my CD music sounded magnifcent (for a wireless)...
overall... 2 thumbs up (don't let the packaging fool you)
