Win 2k Install Problem

Post by Lmandrake »

I am trying to install Win 2K Pro upgrade on a blank unformatted hard drive. When I get to the screen that asks for a CD of a qualifying OS to upgrade from, I get nowhere even though I have both a Win 95 and Win 98 CD that should serve as a qualifiying OS to upgrade from.

Should I install Win 98 or 95 first and then try to install 2K?

Thanks

But I believe that W95 or W98 do have to be installed for the "upgrade" to take place? Slap me if I'm wrong here fellas.. eGo

i agree with ego, is this the oem or retail version, retail you can install without upgrading, but oem you have to ugrade from previous os like win98 or win95.

Actually, I get hung at the step that Nero describes above. Putting either the 98 CD or my 95 CD in the CD drive accomplishes nothing.

Yeah, that's the way I read it in your original comment too.. I think, as do others, if you install W98 and then do the upgrade all should go well.. eGo
