I had left my comp. at service and I got it back yesterday...
I had installed a SK-7 on my XP 2000+, but hey, the temps - if I've looked right - is 47C idle!!!
hey, the result should be at least 40C idle, did they forget to place paste??? How stupid can they be???
I look in BIOS, and it says various temps... One is 47C, the other is 34C.... Dunno which to trust.
Did they not use paste??!
Were they suppose to even remove the cpu?
If the temps are higher than when you took it to them then I'd remove it to check. And also be sure the sink is pushed more towards the rear. If to far forward it could overhang the front plastic part on the socket.

Maybe that's what caused all sh*t??? My pc wouldnt boot up, could that be the cause???? Not pushing it entirely to the rear, hiding all the cpu???
Was it previously hanging over that front plastic part? If so then that would raise the cpu temp and if too much on that plastic part then that would cause an overheat and the system would shut off. So yes that is very possible.
By the way, it doesn't have to be entirely towards the rear, just not on that front plastic part.
