And before you ask, no I haven't even looked at the website, I just like the flash (it's all about oil Blade!)

No, as I said before it is about "cat litter".
If you haven't seen the page then how do you know what it's about? I am using a flash blocker so I cannot see any of it. Plus when I try to re-enable flash it gives an error.

ya, i know the oil plays a big role in the world economy but its not like JR. can just drive a oil liner in an take a couple million ga,,ons, even if he did it wouldnt come close to what this war is gonna cost, and the contined finacial burden the u.s. will take on for years to come.

Sigh... I've discussed this in another thread. It's NOT about us TAKING their oil. It's no where near that simple. Why does everyone just automatically assume that when I say "it's all about oil" that it has to be an oil conquest thing? If it was all about oil, we are doing terrible job because we have very good opportunity to take over the oil wells in 1991, but we didn't. WHY? Because it isn't all about oil.
It's about assuring the smooth flow of oil supplies world-wide.
Interruptions of the oil supply are a national security issue. Oil prices affect the west's economies.
We don't mind paying for it, but we sure as hell get nervous about the idea of someone like Saddam having control over a large supply of it and thus being able to control oil prices to an extent (which put us in the rather awkward position of having to offer to help Iran during the Iran-Iraq war).
Our polical efforts in the Middle East have always been to keep governements with large oil reserves "stable". Preferably friendly too, but stability over all else.
Saudi Arabia isn't exactly a BASTION OF DEMOCRACY but it's a stable government, and (most of the time) a friendly one towards us, AND a large oil producer. If it wasn't a large oil producer, do you think we'd give a rat's behind about Saudi Arabia? Let's see, they're #2 export is race horses....
Ditto Kuwait (or do you REALLY think we fought Gulf War 1 to save a bunch of rich, spoiled arabs out of the kindness of our hearts?).
If we really cared all that much about liberating people from ruthless tyrants, we'd have liberated practically every country in Africa by now. Yet I don't see the the U.S. rushing to impose democracy and freedom to some God-forsaken country in the Congo. Only African countries we show any signs of helping out are those who also happen to be the source of rare metals required for industry. Once again - assuring the smooth flow of a precious resource required by Western nations.
Neither do I think there's anything wrong with this. It's imporant to assure smooth flow of precious resources that are hard to obtain in Western Countries. It's the life-blood of western industry.
I'm not criticizing the government's policies when I say it's about oil. I AM making fun of the HYPOCRASY of our government claiming our only reason for going there is humanitarian and to eliminate WMD. That's certainly a part of it, but not all of it.
If Iraq didn't have large oil resources AND wasn't a threat to OTHER large oil producers, I assure you we wouldn't be as hell-bent on this war as we are.
The WMD issue could have been dealt with eventually by other means. If you don't think so, ask yourself how WE KNEW Saddam was in a specific bunker on a specific morning. What everyone has failed to notice during all the hubub of the war is that we seem to have some pretty impressive HUMINT resources in Iraq.

what ever dude. There are plenty of other places we could get oil if it has to happen. If Iraq didn't have large oil resources AND wasn't a threat to OTHER large oil producers, I assure you we wouldn't be as hell-bent on this war as we are.

OK you can tell by my first post that I disagreed that the war was about the oil. However FP makes some good points. I don"t think it is only about the oil i think Saddam has so many things going against him that it was only a matter of time before we decided to take him out. I don't think any of us has enough info or really ever fully knows the reasons why our Govt. does the things it does. However it is obvious that Saddam's time has come for what ever reason.

Now there is a contradiction. How can it be a HYPOCRACY when the reasons for the action meets the criteria?I'm not criticizing the government's policies when I say it's about oil. I AM making fun of the HYPOCRASY of our government claiming our only reason for going there is humanitarian and to eliminate WMD. That's certainly a part of it, but not all of it.
Ok, smart guy, spell it out for us what the rest of the reason why we are going after brutal dictator other than his atrocities and his possession of WoMD.
