EB Exchange policy changed

Post by MK888 »

I just went to the EBX in the mall by me to exchange a POS game I bought. I was told that the exchange policy changed, and that I can only exchange an open product for the same product. It used to be that if you did not like a game, you could exchange it for something else..... I know I wont buy anything from them again.... :mad

And they wonder why piracy is so high. Is there anything else out there that you can't return if you don't like it? CD's I think you can at HMV, not sure, but those are cheap compared to a game, and it's easy to get the MP3's for a CD to "sample" if you want. There's no try before you buy for games, what a crock. Sure sometimes there's a demo, but I've found that they don't always represent the final game...

Won't take back DVD's that have been opened, unless there's something wrong with them. Then they want you to exchange it.. I've just told them I bought it someplace else cheaper and want a refund and that usually works.. heh.. Anywho.. I can't think of anything else.. eGo

Well I'll tell you, it's only making me even more hesitant to buy. I feel I got burned on this Vietcong game, unless they can figure out what's wrong.

I hear ya FP. I had the money to either buy Vietcong or Raven Shield and went with VC. Even though i KNEW RS is awesome in mp, i went with VC and now am stuck with something i dont like.
And at $50 a pop, i'm sure i'll miss out on a ton of great games because i'll be hesitate to buy with everyone having a no return policy.
sigh :(

Why does everything think the warez scene is as big as it is... who the hell wants to blow 50 on a shit game... try before you buy... i'll admit i've downloaded game iso's played them... if they were shit they got deleted. if i liked them i bought them. i'm not one who has the money kicking around to buy all the games only to find out they suck... but these game makers just can't figure it out that people are tired of the shit that comes out.

I hear that. It seems that a lot of the games I look at now-a-days are just remakes of games that were out 5 or so years ago. I mean, give us another half-life or something. It's not that half-lifes idea (3d shooter) was revolutionary, it was the environment, story [big plus for me] and gameplay.

It's hard to find good 3dshooters with an interesting story like Half-Life had. Made you really feel more apart of the game....

You express my feelings exactly PreDatoR. If I like the game I'll buy it, otherwise it's a good thing I got to try it out and not have wasted my money...

And what happened to those $10 demos you could buy? Unfortunately I can't d/l an ISO so I am stuck with reading reviews then trusting my comprehension of that review. :)

Software is the only thing you really have no way of knowing what your gonna get and cannot return after opened!

At leat you can hear most the songs on a cd on the radio, or a sample file on the net if you want to bother with that.

Movies, VHS or DVD the new stuff you can rent for a buck or two, and most of the old popular stuff you can too like Police academy or Rambo. If you don't know what it is you can usually find it to try for a buck before blowing $15 or $20 for the tape or DVD.

I have found if yu argue with them long enough sometimes they will take it back if you got a decent excuse.

I bought Diablo or Diablo 2 for the kid after palying the sharware version. We didn't like the game after we bought it. I told them them game was not fit for the kid and the people did not talk in the sharware game. I didn't like what they had to say for my kid to listen too. Finnally the wally world manager gave me back my money. That's when it was still fairley new and full price.

Also if you get really ripped on something print out the eula (the part "if you do not except this return to place of purchase") and state you refuse to except it!
That part clearly states from the manufactor that you have the right to return the software!

It has worked for me once or twice. Once was when Win 95 was new, I bought it, hated it and forced the store to refund my money on it!

And if all that fails, upload the program to Kazza, morpheus, win mx ect.... :)
And don't for get the key!

AFAIK, Gamestop still lets you return open products for a refund/exchange.
