Whats up with Barton?
I have heard that Barton is unstable and isn't worth a purchase, but then again I have also heard the exact opposite about it, will somebody please shed some light on the subject??
The question is it cache size or cache speed which effect folding? I really want to see what a opteron can do to a WU. I imagine it would kick some major ass even at the lower clock speeds

I coulda told ya they weren't bad for gaming. 
They only downside: They don't overclock as well as tbred b's "yet." I'm not sure, will they in the future (like, better steppings?)
I'm starting ti wish I would have waited. i got one of the best steppings for the 2100+, i just hope I can get to at least 2.4 GHz.

The Barton 2500+ is no slouch and has a higher avg. overclocked clock speed than the TBred 1700+ according to the CPU database on overclockers.com. The cache size does not hinder overclocking and the processor is not yet mature. With the latest steppings (AQXCA, AQXDA, AQXEA) the 2500+ is proving to be just as good an overclocker as the 1700+ DLT3C variant, pushing 2.4ghz and beyond, in many cases. No doubt, as time passes the number of people reaching these speeds will rise, and probably at lower voltages as well. If you do choose to go with the 2500+, make sure that the stepping you get is AQXCA or newer. The most common stepping, AQUCA, is older and more of a mixed bag.

Btw... I'm running a 2500+ @ 12.5x172 (2150) at 1.675v. Several people report reaching the 2.2ghz mark at default voltage on the newer steppings. However, my ram won't let me go to a higher fsb. Once my TwinMOS stick gets in I believe I'll easily be able to reach 2.4ghz, depending on how much stress my other components can take (my mobo doesn't have a 1/6 divider, and the highest available multiplier is 12.5x).
