So far, avg is still free and no mention of version 7 on their site. Maybe it'll be delayed a long time. :)

If they don't offer it for free anymore, then what to replace it with? Nav2003, pc cillin, kaparsky maybe.

Here's the only other free one I've found: http://www.free-av.com/

It's from german company and I have no idea how good it is or isn't.

I'd say if grisoft goes pay use NAV 2003 - if you keep your eyes open you can find it for about ~$20 AR - multiple installs don't seem to be a problem

I do notice the NAV updates sometimes 2x week, where AVG is not that frequent

slugbait that eTrust looks like a corporation type AV?? mebbe i was missing something...
Since my last post about AVG, I came across a worm that it would detect, but was unable to remove. I tried over and over, without success. So, I installed PC-cillin once agian. It did the trick. A window pops up telling me it found a virus and directs me to a webpage to download a patch.

My overall expirence with PC-cillin is great. It keeps itself up to date and I never have to touch it.

I think I hit the same thing one day on my server. I went into a command prompt and erased that puppy. It was a kazaa dl data file, and it wouldn't let me delete it in the GUI, so, I gave a cmd prompt a try, and it was gone before I knew it. :) if it weren't for NAV, though, I would have had no idea I had a virus...
