which mb? epox or a7n8x

Post by parkster909 »

took out gfx card and tried to put it back in...wouldnt go in...i forced it a little and it still wouldnt go...after many moments of frustration i realized the back metal part was bent...
ok so i put the card back and turn on my comp... nothing!!! black screen...i think its booting though, becuase the hd led is on ...my monitor is just blinking...

could the agp slot have been damaged or somethign? i kno its probably not the gfx card because i put a working gfx card in there and it didnt change anything

Are you sure you are getting the vid card seated properly? Are you getting any beep codes?

What motherboard is it and does the vidcard have a fan that doesn't need external power? If the fan gets it's power from the agp slot and isn't spinning then you might not have it seated properly.

Carefully, reseat it again. I've had that problem and a few times it took 5-6 reseats to get it right. Some mobos/video cards can be picky.

There is a jumper on the motherboard that you switch to reseat the cmos, it isn't in the bios. Check your manual to see where it is. If you don't have one then check their website. ;)

id go with the epox only if you plan to mod it slightly... get one of them Zillman chipset coolers... and move the stock cooler to the south bridge and every thing will be fine.

I found that the contact area between the north bridge and the cooler was a little 1/2" square pad of that thermal crap.
