yup gregs right, amd and intel are about even matched for gaming, but the amd price difference will allow your video card budget to be bigger, and video cards are what make or break a gaming rig.
I have both amd and intel cpus, the amd;s outshine intel at folding and such. The only thing my p4 does faster then the amd is mp3 and video encoding..

Those who voted for the videocard are right...

Save your money by buying AMD and spend what you saved on your video card.

Another important factor is the chipset. Most people don't even consider the chipset when buying a mobo. A chipset is a set of chips on a motherboard that make up the core interface and integrated interfaces. The type of chipsets used on a computer impacts the type of memory and CPU used on a system and also influences what integrated peripherals are available. If the cpu is refered to as the brain, then the chipset is refered to as the heart.

i'd go with cyrix...but thats me

if those arent available...then i'd do whatever i can to get the best video card available...if money is a constraint, then i guess i'd go AMD and spend extra on the VC
Oh, to have a cool sig....it’s my ambition...my goal....and yet, my inept creativity prevents the existence of such.
