Help me build a nice stereo system for my Honda...

Post by DaMaN »

I am looking for that sweet spot of nice sound vs. great cost.
I have a 1995 Honda Accord EX Sedan and just want to replace the 6 1/2" speakers in the front doors and replace the 6X9" speakers in the rear deck and possibly install a sub enclosure with an amp. I used to do this long ago (in the 80's as a hobby) but have lost touch with the hobby. Can any of you offer advise? i used to live by JBL speakers and Rockford Fozgate amps but am unsure if they are any good any more.

I just got this head unit below for 80.00 shipped(Simple CD Receiver)

Some Clarion SRR6984 6x9s that are really nice. I got them off eTronics.com for a really good price. They've got good clear sound, and they're 3 ways. I also bought some SRC4694 to replace my fronts.. But they're the wrong measurements for ya.. GL in your search.. eGo

personally....i like the sound from the pioneer speakers
mix those with a RF amp with 4x 10s

then your car will go boom boom :)

and if you dont like the boom boom (i personally dont) then keep it small with 2x 10s or 12s (i prefer the 10s)
Gone for good. But never say never

I was also thinking of getting 2 10"'s or 1 12" subwoofer in an enclosure for the extra kick and som quality 6X9"'s for the rear deck and a nice set of 6 1/2" components for the front doors.

I think you should install a Shuttle SS51G in your Honda.

sorry to take this offtopic........

but all this talking of speakers got me remembering an ad i saw awhile ago

a car was up on a hydrolic jack...and the underside was that sheet metal with those crosshatches. But there were a TON of little 8's or 10's on the underside. From the front to the rear...with about 3" in between the subs

i think it was for sony xplode....but i cant remember

anyways...i thought it was a cool ad

back to the on topic discussion :D

Rockford Phosgate stuff is still top not and top price... and go 1 - 12" speaker... get one of the Kicker Solobaric's the square ones :D i had a pair of 10's before i put in 1 12" an d the 12 to me sounds so much better and a lot deeper too. now i just need to find a decent cheap amp... my 8 yr old Legacy has been repaired one to many times and its about to bit the big one again... i think i got my moneys worth out of it :D

fosgate amps are top notch. i'd avoid pioneer speakers and amps. they have muddy sound. There decks are alright. Alpine stuff is good. I've heard clarion is good. Kenwood speakers are good (there subs arent that great though), there amps are good too. Cerwin Vega stuff is good. VERY clear.
