DVD burners
Is there any other DVD burners that are equal or better than a Plextor PX-708A ?

As much as I am one for saying "PLEXTOR ROCKS", and after all those reviews I wrote back in the day about Plextor drives and all the times I told people to buy Plextor drives...
DONT BUY THIS PLEXTOR DVD DRIVE!
I had one at work and it was inferior to the Sony DRU510A.
Why?
The Plextor drive only has a 2MB buffer...meager even for today's CD-R drives. The Sony on the other hand uses an 8MB buffer. For CD's, the 2MB buffer is plenty, for DVD's, I would prefer to have the larger buffer...especialy with the sensitivity of the compressed video data on DVD movies.
Just my $.02

I'd have to say that the Sony DW-U10A is a great cheap drive that is multi format. 8MB buffer and such. It's the OEM version of the DRU500A. Comes in silver, beige, and black. I woulda gone the DRU510A route but I wanted a black drive for my black case. The new DW-U14A is the OEM of the DRU510A drive. What is cool is you can flash the DW-U10A to be a DRU500A and get 4x write speeds and such. I did it to mine and it is completely awesome. Just gotta get some 4x DVD-R media.
*EDIT*
Crap....Newegg has the DW-U14A in black for the same price I payed for my DW-U10A like 2 weeks ago....pisses me off...oh well that's technology for ya.

Newegg wont pricematch for you? Here in LA there is a place called DigiComp International that will pricematch anything for up to 2 weeks and can generally get anything you want in 24-48 hours. I usually research online and then just call them. I dont mind paying sales tax if im not paying for shipping.
