i can go 4-5 months on a tank of gas...but that's only if i leave it in the garage most of the time. ;)

i usually fill up every 2 weeks....30mpg average. not bad considering i drive kind crazy all the time in the acura. MWUAHAHAHAHA!

Before guessing on costly parts, why not try taking the car to a Saturn dealer? The most that's ever charged for diagnostic fees is 1 hours labor and that's less than what you might spend guessing otherwise.
As for mileage, as previously mentioned here a few times, 250 miles on a 12 gallon gas tank is not a problem, nor 8 mpg.

Thanks Horace, but it's no biggie anymore. Soon enough I'll be tearing it apart and rebuilding it anyway - I'm just happy it runs normal again. I guess it like Milwaukee more then Madison hehe

It is a very cool sounding growl, but its also the cause of you clogged cat! When Saturns start sounding like that, its the flexpipe that is going bad. Eventually the growl turns into a very annoying exhaust leak (about a $200 part). Your cat is probably still good, its just blocked by the deteriorating flex pipe. When you replace the downpipe, make sure to cleanout the front of the cat; if nto you'll end up with a restricted exhaust again (and the fuel mileage issues etc)

As far as the tranny slipping... another common issue in Saturns with automatics is the shift solenoids in the tranny. You should get it fixed before you burn up the clutch packs.

It's a manual - dunno why it happened, but thought it was due to the clog. All in all, I hope to be installing a totally new exhaust in a few months, I'll find out all that happened then hehe
