how long have you had the video card in your main rig?

Post by Hipnotic_Tranz »

I've had my 64meg Radeon 8500 in my main rig for a little over two years now <img src=http://mywebpages.comcast.net/hipnotic_ ... s/eek3.gif> I used to upgrade every 6-months or a year....but all the new games I like don't choke my system enough to make me want to upgrade. It runs Q3, RTCW, JK2, BF, all fine....though I recently played somes BF Vietnam and have finally noticed some slow-downs. I figure I can hold off 'till DooM 3 comes out :)

So whats the longest you've ever kept a video card in your main rig?

6 months?

Post by eGoCeNTRoNiX »

lol... I usually change them out pretty frequently though.. But I will say I've had a Radeon 9000 in it the longest overall.. This includes a Saphire 9000 and a ATI 9000 AIW Pro.. Though I do have some much faster cards I could put in there, I haven't had the need to do so yet. Gonna wait till a 9800AIW can be had for around $250 before I upgrade. heh.. :)

i went from a 9000pro...then a 9600pro...to a 9800np...back to a 9600pro...then 9700pro in a year. hehe

not much of an upgrade except moving from the 9000pro.

I try to get at least a year out of a video card. Running a 9600 Pro now had a TI 4800SE before it.

Rad 9500 Pro cranked up. had it about 3 weeks. Before that i had a 8500 for almost 2 years. And it was still doing just fine on most games when i pulled it out.

I've had a ti4200 for about two years. Hell, I haven't upgraded my cpu or mainboard either.

Other than folding, my rig is still fast enough for the games I play.

1 year for my 9800 Pro. I usually upgrade at least every 12 months, but I'll hold off till the fall cycle for replacing the 9800 Pro.
