really pissed off about doom3

my freind bought the game and his system isnt capable so he plays his games on my pc
well he installed it on my gaming pc and lo - and behold! it says it doesnt work because their is cd/dvd emulation software running

im like wtf!

so i called ID support which is actually activision but heres the story
doom3 wont run if u have clonecd installed

NOT RUNNING BUT INSTALLED
u must uninstall clonecd to get it to run
wtf kinda bullspit is this?

THat's why you get the NO-CD hack I have in my shares to fix it.

Nothing new Sov. Unreal 2K4 has the same problem. That's Safedisc copy protection. I had the same problem because I have Daemon Tools installed.

Just go to GameCopyWorld.com and use the No-CD patch.

But why would that make them make you get rid of it? Perhaps thinking you will copy it I suppose.

Does Doom 3 ever get brighter to where you don't need to use a freakin flashlight to see? Or is it dark all the way through.

hell is brighter...but yea, mostly u use the stupid flashlight.

Too darn bad.

Can't handle switching to weapons all the time, and I like seeing all the surroundings.

It's the mood of the game. You can turn up the brightness and gamma in the video settings though, which will brighten up any room that has lights. If it's meant to be a pitch black room though, you need the flashlight.

Thanks, I'll try that later. But some guns should already have a light, or even wear a head light.

Have the gamme and brightness all the way up FP. Too darn dark.

I didn't have that issue with UT2k4 or CnC Generals (uses SafeDisc) and I have Daemon Tools installed. I've even used Daemon Tools for the images of CnC Generals and UT2k4 and never had an issue. Weird.

if you could actually see it would all look like crap.. thats the big secret about doom 3! Put a complex light engine in it just to make it dark?

Thats the whole point of the engine, to show off the shadows & bump maping. Those that don't like it are too scared

I beat it a week or so ago....thought it was a lot of fun.

I started using the Duct tape mod. Doesn't really take much away from the game (use the latest mod with the pen-light size light and it's still a challenge). I find it a lot more playable. I was wearing out my finger switching back and forth between the gun and the light.
