What's the best clam chowder in a can?

Post by glassoftea »

I know that the best clam chowder doesn't come from a can but when out to sea one eats what they can. I just had a bowl of the Cambells Chunky New England Clam Chowder and it was ok, not enough clam by far. Overall a 6 out of 10. Are there any better? It's my favorite kind of soup and I'm about to head back out sea for a bit, it makes for a hell of a dinner, add a few goldfish and bamn, it's like I'm back up north.

Inputs?

I'm not crazy about it myself since the last can that I got I always felt like I was chewing sand.. *bleh* So I try to stick to the stuff in the store now.. But I think Chunky Man makes some as well?

Seems to me the cheaper it is the better. At least in my experience.

Bleah, cheap=crap in my experience.

My in-laws were visiting a few weeks ago and they "cooked" dinner, it was a soup and sandwhich night, they picked up the cheapest chowder on the shelf, something like .37 cents. I heated it up and tried to eat it. My mother in law asked me if it was any good and I told her that I was really just waiting for them to leave the table so I could pour it out. It looked like dog food when I opened it. I went to pour it out and it was like dog food/refried beans, it all came out as one part, not a splash of liquid to be found.

I've had better luck with the "it must be good if it's expensive rule" when it comes to this.
