My big front yard...

Post by FlyingPenguin »

Been working on the property a lot lately.
Still have damaged trees and debris lying around from last
year's storms, but it's all slowly going into the burn pit.

Just took this panorama of the "front yard" of my ranch.
Notice the two visiting Sand Hill cranes.

And yes, that's a 2nd garage in the back of the property. Just
purchased it. Moving all the dead storage over there so now I
get my workshop back in the main garage.

It's a full 360 - scroll right ------>

Need an IMAX screen for that. How did you take a picture like that?

I have 19 acres... most of that grass is WEEDS but as long as it's green, I don't care. Actually that bare patches are mostly mulch for the remnants of the driveway, but I do have some spots that wash out in a hard rain - soil is mostly sand here.

That picture is a dozen or more photos taken in an overlapping circle and stitched together with Ulead 360. It was done in a rush by hand so you see some optical defects. Really need to use a tripod and take my time and they come out almost seamless.

XMAN, let me show you the garage next time.

I've got my work bench all setup, a grinder for sharpening mower blades (I have two 54", 3 blade mowers), compressor with impact wrench (sure makes it easy to remove those blades!) and something I should have installed a LONG time ago: a chain hoist. Piece of cake now changing mower blades. Hoist the front end of the mower up a few feet and easy access.

I've started flying my model planes again so I'm also clearing the back workbench for airplane maintenance. Too many years of neglect and all the planes need some work.

hey FP we gotta get together when you want to fly the planes. i was thinking looking at that picture how much room you have to fly out in your yard. you do that there or you gotta go somewhere else?

A LOT of lawn to cut indeed. I'm thinking about asking someone to put some livestock on the back ten to make it easier on the mowers.

Xman, yeah we can do that sometime. I'm just not at the point where I can predictably tell when I'll fly since the planes need some work. I flew my big Ultrasport 1000 a couple of weeks ago and had the rudder servo fail on me, so in the process or repairing that, and the canopy is cracked so I have to fix that.

No I don't have anything small enough to fly on my property except possibly one plane I bought recently. I don't have a big enough open area for anything but a park flyer.
