bought a Macbook Pro over the weekend........yeah I know WTF was I thinking. Actually this thing is sweet. Super simple to use and lightning quick. Cold boot is like 12 seconds and shutdown is like 4-5 second range. Installed a "custom" copy of office 2008 and a few other apps. Installation is easier than windows imo. Going to take some getting used to Entourage for email client, lot different than outlook. Battery life is amazing! Says I got 4.5 hours left and its been on for over an hour with screen @ 60% brightness.

HILLARY!!! HELL NO, there isnt anyone worth a $hit running for pres IMO
As for price, to get the same spec notebook (NEW not refurb) in a hp/dell/toshiba the price wasnt that much more. Its a lot slimmer and aluminum casing is nice. Im taking design and engineering classes in a few months so this fits what I need.

Well true, but with Macs now using the same hardware, you can use boot camp to install Windows on it. So not only do you have just as much in the form of software usage, you have even more.normalicy wrote:I can understand a mac for a laptop. Neither PC or mac are really upgradable for laptops. Though software availability would be what got me... well that & price.
When all else fails, replace the user.

Software?? That would be an issue if vmware fusion and xp didnt exist. Installed Catia v5 R17, and Autodesk Inventor in xp vm so Im set for classes.
Games are a bit different though. I was able to successfully play Battlefield 2 on it though even though it was never coded for osx (native not win vm). Transgaming.org and cider engine can usually handle most games. Cider is similar to wine/cedega but with dx9 support.
