Yeah actually i used to work for them. Called my old boss and he said " well everyone is on it at night and it makes it slower' Ummm i worked for the cable company for 4 yrs so I know the ins and outs of sharing but when your paying for 3meg service and your getting just above dial up speeds you got issues. Hell look at the tracert. The lag starts at their router. They better do something quick. DSL is available here and I will go back to it if things dont improve soon.
I just replaced my old DOCSIS 1.1 modem with a new DOCSIS 2 modem after reading an article on ExtremeTech that Comcast can't give you full bandwidth unless you've upgraded to a DOCSIS 2 modem (and a LOT of people are using ancient modems that Comcast gave them 4 years ago).
I went from 6Gb down/2Gb up to 10Gb down/2.5Gb up. :-)
The old modem will get moved to my rental house to replace the rental modem there. We have low speed economy cable ther (3Gb) for the benefit of the renters. That saves me a few bucks a month on the modem rental.

Yeah, 3Mb. What's a factor of 1000 between friends?

Same here. Every night around 2am, things get sketchy. Last night, I couldn't connect to anything (even with a modem & router reset). All normal this morning.
I have one of the newer modems too. I've seen over 10MB/s, but usually it's about 8.
